The Boston Medical Group and other scams

If I do anything else here, it is my wish that I prevent buyers and sellers from falling for a scam and loosing their hard earned money.

Here is a scam that was published by the local realtor's association.

A local REALTOR® had an unusual experience with some out of state buyers recently.

The REALTOR® received a call from a relocation director from a group of surgeons out of Boston, “Boston Medical Group”. They were looking to relocate to the area working at the Beaumont hospitals.

After contact with their relocation department, arrangements were made for a house-hunting trip. While assisting a “medical emergency” on the flight ”Dr. Jeff Franklin” had left his wallet with ID at the airport. The agent ended up driving this buyer around all week from hotel to hospitals to numerous showings, even lending him some cash. All the while other “surgeons” and a “relocation director” were making contact with the agent regarding plans for their future relocation.

Dr. Jeff Franklin never did recover his ID. When pressed for a pre-approval letter he produced a fraudulent one. When confronted, the “doctor” stopped communicating. Fraudulent name, fraudulent workplace, fraudulent pre approval.

We don’t know the intent of this individual or group. Beware of “Boston Medical Group” and “Dr. Jeff Franklin”. The agent notified all listing agents of showings that took place.
